1. About VikSplitX
VikSplitX is a shared-expense application designed to help people create groups, add expenses, calculate balances and record settlements.
VikSplitX is not intended to operate as a bank account, wallet or service that stores group funds.
2. Information you provide
Depending on how you use VikSplitX, information you provide may include your name, email address, account credentials, group names, member names, expenses, split information, settlement records and related group activity.
Group members may also exist as name-only members without their own VikSplitX account.
3. Guest use
VikSplitX supports a guest-first product experience. Guest-related information may be associated with a temporary guest session so a group can be created and used before an account is created.
If a guest group is later claimed by an account, VikSplitX is designed to preserve the existing group and financial history rather than recreate it as a new group.
4. Expense and group information
VikSplitX may process information such as who paid an expense, participating members, split method, amount, balance and settlement records in order to provide the core service.
Financial calculations are expense-management records. They are not bank account balances.
5. Payment information
VikSplitX should never require you to provide a UPI PIN, payment OTP, banking password or card PIN.
Where UPI handoff is supported, VikSplitX may pass settlement information to a supported payment application. Payment authorization takes place in that payment application.
A return from an external payment application should not by itself be treated as verified proof that a settlement succeeded unless a future verified payment integration explicitly provides that confirmation.
6. How information is used
Information may be used to provide authentication, groups, expenses, balances, settlements, invitations, account syncing, security, troubleshooting and other functionality required to operate VikSplitX.
7. Security
VikSplitX is designed to use reasonable technical safeguards for account and application data.
No internet-connected system can guarantee absolute security. You should keep account credentials private and never share payment secrets through VikSplitX or support requests.
8. Data retention
Information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain account and financial-history integrity, comply with applicable requirements, resolve disputes and protect the service.
Historical members that are referenced by expenses or settlements may need to remain represented in historical records so financial history is not corrupted.
9. Data deletion
Information about requesting account or data deletion is available on the VikSplitX Data Deletion page.
Some records may need to be retained or anonymized where necessary to preserve the integrity of shared financial history or meet applicable obligations.
10. Future features
Features such as receipt scanning, recurring expenses, advanced analytics and VikSplitX Prime may have additional privacy implications when they are introduced.
This policy should be updated before those features are treated as publicly available.
11. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when VikSplitX functionality, data practices or legal requirements change. The updated date at the top of this page will reflect material revisions.
